Guangzhou, December 31 - Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (GAB), the Host Broadcaster of Guangzhou 2010, signed a Memorandum of The Guangzhou Asian Games OB Van Lease Cooperation with 33 domestic television stations such as China Central Television (CCTV), Guangdong TV and Guangzhou TV as well as other organisations, which will supply the Asian Games with broadcast equipment and technical teams. A signing ceremony was held in Guangzhou on Tuesday.

During the Asian Games, these TV stations and organisations will provide 28 HDTV Outside Broadcasting (OB) Vans and 18 SDTV OB Vans and produce 2,500-hour high-definition ITVR signals of competitions. It is estimated that the length of ITVR signals produced for the Guangzhou Asian Games will surpass the Doha 2006 Asian Games by a big margin.

GAB invited China-based TV stations for cooperation on broadcast technologies for the Guangzhou Asian Games at the beginning of 2009 and received enthusiastic responses.

According to the technological requirements of the Games' TV broadcasting by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC), videos of the Games will be produced in the 16:9 format for both the High-definition television (HDTV) and Standard-definition television (SDTV) systems, and audios will be produced in stereophonic sound.

Among the technical teams, many are experienced in the broadcasting of major international sporting events such as the Beijing 2008 Olympics and Macau 2005 East Asian Games. During the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, CCTV's OB Vans and technical teams will provide technical support for the broadcasting of the Opening & Closing Ceremonies and competitions of over 10 sports such as Athletics, Tennis, Archery, Gymnastics and Basketball, covering seven multi-sport venues; Guangdong TV's OB Vans and technical teams will provide technical support for the broadcasting of Football and Rugby competitions; Shanghai TV's OB Vans and technical teams will provide technical support for the broadcasting of Athletics, Swimming and Tennis competitions; Guangzhou TV will work with CCTV to provide technical support for the broadcasting of the Opening Ceremony.

The signing of suppliers of broadcast equipment and technical teams for the Guangzhou Asian Games was another milestone in preparation for the Games' TV broadcasting after the formation of the TV production teams and the first World Broadcaster Briefing.

The International Broadcast Centre (IBC) of the 16th Asian Games will be in operation in April 2010.
