The Vietnam Shooting Federation held a conference in Hanoi on February 7 to review its operations in 2009 and set targets for 2010, to win at least a gold medal at the 16th Asian Games (ASIAD) in Guangzhou (China).

2009 was considered a successful year for Vietnam as it topped the 33rd Southeast Asian Shooting Championship (SEASA) with 20 gold medals and the 25th Southeast Asian Games' shooting event with 11 gold medals.

Nguyen Manh Tuong became the first Vietnamese marksmen to be amongst the top ten shooters of the World Shooting Cup held in the Republic of Korea.

In 2009 the federation organised two open skeet and trap tournaments, attracting hundreds of amateur shooters. It sent amateur athletes to the regional and Thai Open skeet and trap tournaments.

In 2010, the federation will train athletes for the 34th SEASA championship in Indonesia and aim to grab a gold medal at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou. It will make thorough preparations for domestic tournaments and invite foreign teams to compete in these events.
