Four wrestlers have been named by the Philippine Sports Commission to the national training pool where they will be given a chance to land slots for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games in China on November 12 - 27.
Veterans Jimmy and Margarito Angana, Maribel Jambora and up-and-coming Jason Balabal ill receive a P10,000 monthly stipend from the PSC and international exposure.
Brothers Jimmy (60-66kg freestyle) and Margarito (55kg Greco-roman) won gold medals in last year's Southeast Asian Games in Laos, along with Balabal (74-84kg free). Jambora (45kg free) won a bronze also in Laos.
"Their training will be monitored and if they show improvement they can be part of the national team to Guangzhou Games," Angping added.
'Elite' athletes receive a P20,000 monthly allowance from the PSC and are given priority in international exposure. Leading the 'elite' list are bowler Biboy Rivera and netters Cecil Mamiit and Treat Conrad Huey.
