Guangzhou, September 29 - From September 30 to the Asian Games period, the 2010 China Mobile Guangzhou International Table Tennis Exhibition & Cultural Festival will be held in Guangzhou as an interesting table tennis carnival for local citizens and Asiad visitors.
Under the guidance of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC), the event is hosted by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and ITTF Museum and co-hosted by China Mobile Guangzhou with support from the Chinese Table Tennis Association and Guangzhou Table Tennis Association. It will be the first Chinese Table Tennis Cultural Festival.
GAGOC holds a press conference on Wednesday to launch the 2010 China Mobile Guangzhou International Table Tennis Exhibition & Cultural Festival.
During the festival, the Asian Games Table Tennis Challenge Championship will be held among residents in Guangzhou and the winners will get the opportunity to face world champions; a number of young ladies will be selected as Table Tennis Promotion Ambassadors to cheer paddlers at the Asian Games; an evening gala will be held for the festival; the Table Tennis Exhibition will open at Guangzhou Gymnasium during the Games with real objects, photos and text showing the history and development of table tennis in China and the world, information of Chinese world champions as well as special relations between the sport and Guangzhou.
Former world champion Xie Chaojie expressed his wish at the press conference this afternoon (September 29) that more people would get involved in table tennis through this event and the Guangzhou Asian Games and enjoy the fun, health and friendship it brings.
