Guangzhou, November 5 - The Asian Games flame is divided into 12 on November 5 and they will be relayed respectively in 10 districts and 2 county-level cities of Guangzhou tomorrow.
Wan Qingliang, Deputy Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality holds high the torch.
The Sacred flame protection unit demonstrate 12 safety lanterns on Novemeber 5, 2010.
Zhang Huoqing (L), Deputy District Mayor of Huangpu district of Guangzhou, got the flame cauldron from Wan Qingliang, Deputy Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of CPC and Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality.
At 9:00am today, the flame cauldron was lit up by Wan Qingliang, Deputy Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality. Then, the sacred flame protection unit lit up 12 safety lanterns successivly. Next, Wan Qingliang handed them over one by one to officials from the 12 districts and county-level cities of Guangzhou.
The Asian Games torch was relayed successfully in Harbin, Changchun, Haiyang of Shandong Province, as well as 19 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province outside Guangzhou. On November 4, the torch returned to Guangzhou after its 24-city-relay outside Guangzhou.
From November 6 to 8, the torch will be relayed in 12 districts and county-level cities of Guangzhou in turn. There will be 16 torchbearers in each leg.
The Torch Relay in Guangzhou urban area will kick off with 208 torchbearers on November 9. In the next two days, Asian Games torch "The Tide" will be further relayed in Panyu Dafushan Mountain and Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Centre. The main flame will be lit up at the opening ceremony of the 16th Asian Games on November 12.
