Guangzhou, November 8 - The torch of Guangzhou Asian Games was relayed by 16 torchbearers from all walks of life with the cheering of four thousand citizens in Huangpu District, Guangzhou on the afternoon of November 8.

The Torch Relay route was around the Huangpu Sports Centre with the start point at the Centre's South Square. It was just the sports centre that had the first event of the Guangzhou Asian Games, namely the first football group match between Thailand and Pakistan on November 7.
Mai Jianmin, the torchbearer of the first stop, received the torch from Chen Xiaogang, Secretary of Huangpu District Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to begin the Torch Relay. Zhang Huoqing, Deputy Secretary of Huangpu District Committee of CPC and Acting District Head, as the torchbearer of last stop, lit the flame cauldron together with Cheng Xiaogang. There were 16 torchbearers in the activity, including several well-known public figures.
