Guangzhou, November 19 - A Guest Programme for the Guangzhou Asian Games has been going on and about 80 members from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Family are invited to tour the host city Guangzhou by visiting Guangzhou Tower and taking Pearl River Night Cruises on Wednesday when they are visiting the November 12-27 sporting gala in the city.

Guests from the OCA Family take a Pearl River Night Cruise.

Distinguished guests included Wei Jizhong, OCA Honorary Life Vice President and President of International Federation of Volleyball (FIVB), Presidents and Secretary Generals of National Olympic Committees (NOC), International Sports Federations and Asian Sports Federations, as well as their escorts.

On top of Guangzhou Tower, a new landmark for Guangzhou, they enjoyed beautiful sceneries of the urban area and venue for the Games Opening Ceremony Haixinsha Island; as evening fell, they took a Pearl River Night Cruise themed "Pearl River, Asian Charm" and toured along the fantastic Pearl River, enjoying beautiful scenery spots of the city including the Twin Towers, Haixinsha Island, Liede bridge, Zhujiang Beer Museum and Pazhou International Exhibition Centre.

This activity was part of the Guest Programme of the OCA Family, formerly called Lady's Programme. Guest Programme, a campaign organised by the Asiad host city under permission of the OCA, proves to be a great opportunity for the host city to showcase its charm and capability to the world. To seize this opportunity, Guangzhou has prepared for two years, and even sent a team to learn from Beijing Olympic experiences on how to organise an analogous programme as the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games.

According to Wu Juan, who is in charge of Guest Programme, eight routes have been developed to show the distinguished guests a charming and beautiful Guangzhou. Up till now, four were completed, including "Millennium Fortress, Pearl of History" on November 11, "Cultural Heritage, Art Treasure" on November 13, "Food Art, Dim-sum Feast" on November 15 and "Pearl River, Asian Charm" on November 17. And all of them successfully earned compliments from attendees.
