Guangzhou, November 25 - The Press Conference on Guangzhou Asian Games Intellectual Property Rights Protection was held in the Main Press Centre at Asian Games Town on Thursday afternoon. Deng Youman, Deputy Director General of the Intellectual Property Office of Guangzhou Municipality, Zhao Jitao, Deputy Director General of the Copyright Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality and Liang Xiaoping, Division Chief of the Administration for Industry and Commerce of Guangzhou Municipality were present at the event and answered questions by journalists.

Deng noted that, as the host city of the 16th Asian Games, Guangzhou authorities always take the commitment to protect intellectual property rights as an important part of preparations for the sporting event, actively launch campaigns to protect Asian Games intellectual property rights and make it keep pace with all preparations, with the view of elevating the development of Guangzhou to a new level.
According to Deng Youman, related departments have vigorously promoted the application and registration of protection objects concerned over the past two years. Till today, domestic and international logo registrations, trademark registrations, patent applications and copyright registrations concerning Asiad emblem, mascot, slogan and names have been up to 160. A total of 145 cases of Asian Games intellectual property rights infringement have been investigated and addressed, including 144 administrative cases and 1 being heard. The custom hasn't received any complaint from the obligee or discovered any stuff infringing on the Asiad intellectual property rights. All the reported or complained infringement relevant to the Asiad is addressed successfully.
Guangzhou will seise this opportunity of hosting the grand event to advance the progress of the city and promote the transformation of economic development pattern via the protection of intellectual property rights, said Deng. He added that regional strategy will be adopted to boost the creation and application of intellectual property rights protection.
