Husain A H Z Al-Musallam, Director General and Technical Director of the Olympic Council of Asia, said he is very confident that Guangzhou will present the best ever Asian Games when speaking to the Asian Games Lounge, a talk show, on April 9.
Mr Husain thought the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee is doing a fantastic job and took the opportunity to thank the Chinese Olympic Committee for their support during an interview from the Official Website of the Games.
Mr Husain was excited that many new sports have entered the Asian Games programme for the first time, such as Cricket and Women's Boxing. And he was happy that Equestrian will make its debut in Mainland China during the Guangzhou Asian Games.
Mr Husain wished Guangzhou good luck and looked forward to celebrating the best Asian Games ever. And he believed the Games will leave a very good legacy for Guangzhou, making it famous around the world.
Mr Husain was certain that Guangzhou will benefit from Asiad and witness a major transformation in the city's infrastructure in terms of the transportation system, sports facilities, manpower's education level and the volunteer spirit.
Mr Husain told the Official Website of the 16th Asian Games that he is optimistic that Chinese enterprises sponsoring the 2010 Asian Games will get more exposure abroad and enter the Asian and global market.
He thought Guangzhou is making progress day by day. In particular, he noticed new construction taking place in recent years, such as the sports facilities on Haixin Island, which has been chosen as the venue for the Opening Ceremony.
Mr Husain said he is an old friend of Guangzhou and can eat with chopsticks like any Chinese. He and his family - his wife and kids - visited Guangzhou in early 2000 and had a very good time here.
